Step 1: Review Your Options
You will receive information regarding the benefit enrollment process from the AEP Benefits Center in 7–10 days after you have passed your pre-employment physical, background check and drug test. This information will come to you either by email or regular mail depending on whether you have provided a benefit email address. Once you are an active employee, you can enroll online and talk with a service representative.
As a newly-hired employee, you have 31 days from your date of hire to enroll in your AEP Health and Welfare Benefits.
Full-time Employee Benefits
View your AEP benefit options to help you decide which benefits are right for you and think about who you want to cover.

Step 2: Determine Whom to Cover
When you enroll in the Medical, Dental and/or Vision Plans, you may also choose whom you want to cover. Your coverage level and cost are based on the dependents you enroll. If you plan on covering dependents, you will need to provide each dependent's legal name, Social Security number (SSN) and birth date when you enroll.

Tools to Help You Choose
Not sure which Medical Plan is right for you?
Enroll using the decision support tool—just click I'd Like Help Choosing Plans when you start your enrollment!
If you are unsure of which benefits to choose, our decision support tool can help. Simply answer a series of questions about your medical history, risk tolerance and ability to pay out-of-pocket expenses. Using your answers to those questions (which are never shared with AEP), the decision support tool will display the Medical Plan that most closely matches your responses. You can either accept the Best Match Plan that is suggested or choose your own Plan.
The Best Match list will display once you've selected who you want to cover for the year.

Benefit Scout for Voluntary Benefit Guidance
This online benefits decision tool can help you and your family make your Life Insurance elections with confidence. It provides step-by-step guidance so you can find the insurance that makes sense for you. Benefit Scout walks you through a questionnaire that provides a recommendation for your specific needs and situation along with an explanation of why a certain coverage was recommended.
Benefit Scout also helps you decide if Voluntary Benefits are a good fit for you and your family.
Step 4: Verify Dependents
You will be required to submit documentation to verify your dependents’ eligibility. After you’ve completed your enrollment, if any documentation is required, you’ll see a notification in My Tasks. Simply click on it and follow the instructions to verify your dependents. Your dependent(s) will not be added to your coverage until your documentation is provided and approved.

The ID card will be issued in the name of the participant (subscriber) and will be valid for everyone you cover. The Medical ID Card is also your Pharmacy ID card.

Name or Update Beneficiaries
It’s important to designate a beneficiary for your Life Insurance benefits (someone who will receive the value of your account in the event of your death). During the enrollment process you will have the ability to designate your beneficiaries. You can also update your beneficiaries anytime throughout the year.
