Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
Intel's US Tax Qualified Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) allows employees the opportunity to purchase common stock shares of Intel Corporation at a discounted price from the market price through payroll deductions. Stock purchases are typically made twice a year, in February and August.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible to participate in ESPP if you are an employee of Intel or a participating subsidiary in an approved location, and you are employed as of the last day in which stock is traded before the grant date (generally, Jan. 31 and July 31).
When can I enroll?
The ESPP has two enrollment periods during which all eligible employees may enroll for payroll deductions.
Global enrollment periods are: January 1-31 and July 1 – 31
How do I enroll?
In order to enroll, you must have an E*TRADE login. This login is initially created on your behalf, and you must wait for E*TRADE to send you an activation email. Once you activate your account you may enroll in ESPP during the enrollment periods.
Re-enrollment is automatic. No action is necessary if you want to remain enrolled each ESPP period at your current contribution rate.
What are subscription periods?
Subscription periods are the window of time during which money is deducted from your paycheck each pay period and used to purchase stock.
Subscription periods are: February 20- August 19 and August 20- February 19
After you enroll, we make payroll deductions over the course of six months. At the end of those six months, the money that has been deducted is used to purchase Intel stock at a discounted price.
What if I change my mind?
You can withdraw from ESPP up to 48 hours before the subscription period ends. Your contributions are refunded to you typically within one to three pay periods . You will not receive stock or interest on contributions.
How much can I contribute?
You can deduct anywhere from 2% to 15% of your paycheck to go towards ESPP. These deductions are taken on an after-tax basis.
How much is the discount?
Employees who participate purchase shares of Intel common stock at 85% of Intel’s stock price at the beginning or ending of the subscription period, whichever is lower.
