Family & Other Support

Santander understands that everyone has different family needs, and that those needs evolve as families change. So, in addition to health and life insurance benefits, we offer a variety of programs to support you and your family.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Everyone faces challenges in their lives from time to time and can use some extra support, whether it’s managing stress or anger, treating substance use, grieving the loss of a loved one, achieving a healthy work-life balance or planning for college. Take advantage of Santander’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP), administered by Carebridge, which provides employees with up to six confidential counseling sessions per issue, at no cost. The EAP also features online life resources. For questions or additional information, contact Carebridge 24 hours a day at (800) 437-0911. You can also access Carebridge resources at www.myliferesource.com (company code: YYY7P).

Your use of EAP services will remain private and confidential. Any communication you may have with an EAP professional remains between you and the Carebridge EAP professional and is protected within the limits of the law.

Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

Santander’s Dependent Care FSA allows you to contribute up to $5,000* in pre-tax dollars to help pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses to care for your child(ren) (under the age of 13) and/or adult/elder dependents so you (and your spouse, if you’re married) can work or attend school as a full-time student.

Keep in mind that you can only enroll in the Dependent Care FSA when you are first hired or during Annual Enrollment, and you cannot make changes to your election during the year unless you experience a qualified life event.

For details about the types of expenses eligible for reimbursement under the Dependent Care FSA, review IRS Publication 503 Child and Dependent Care Expenses https://www.irs.gov/publications/p503.

* Each year, Santander’s Dependent Care FSA is subject to IRS nondiscrimination testing. Employees who are considered “highly compensated employees” (e.g., for 2020, someone who earned $125,000 or more in 2019, including base, bonus and other compensation) may have their annual contributions to the Dependent Care FSA reduced. Contributions were reduced to $1,825 in 2020 and $2,000 in 2019. If you may be considered a “highly compensated employee” in 2020, you and your spouse may each want to consider contributing to a Dependent Care FSA to reach the $5,000 annual aggregate contribution limit.

Parental Leave

Santander is committed to supporting new mothers and fathers as they care for and bond with their newborn and children placed for adoption. Santander’s Parental Leave program provides regular full- and part-time employees, eligible upon hire in 2021, with up to six weeks of paid leave. Parental Leave is in addition to the paid time off birth mothers receive under short-term disability. Refer to the Parental Leave program on The Source for a complete list of eligibility requirements.

Adoption Assistance

Santander provides financial assistance to regular full- and part-time employees who have completed at least one year of service to help pay for eligible adoption expenses through the Adoption Assistance Program. Employees may receive up to $3,000 per adoption. Additional details are available on The Source.

Back-up Dependent Care

With Santander’s Back-up Dependent Care program through Bright Horizons, you have access to on-site and in-home caregivers who can provide care for a child or adult family member when your regular care arrangements are not available. Bright Horizons also provides resources to help you find quality babysitting, pet care and elder care through their Additional Family Supports program.
