Health Coaching

Sharecare provides wellness coaching for AEP employees and medically-covered spouses/domestic partners. Health coaches offer confidential support to help you set and stick to your health goals whether you want to eat healthier, increase your exercise, lower your stress levels, manage your weight, or quit smoking. Even small improvements can help you live a longer, fuller life!

Coaching is offered at no cost and helps you form a plan unique to you. Schedule your next call in your Sharecare account (or create one at aepwell.com) under Achieve and Coaching, or call 1-877-393-0543.

Tobacco Cessation

Quitting tobacco is one of the most important decisions you could make. By quitting, you make the choice to live a longer, healthier life. With the right planning and support, quitting is possible!

AEP employees and medically-covered spouses/domestic partners have access to two tobacco cessation programs—at no cost:

  • Tobacco Coaching: Receive personalized coaching and support from experts at Sharecare. Enroll in your Sharecare account under Achieve and Coaching or call 1-877-393-0543 (Option 3) to get started.
  • Craving to Quit: Access this innovative, evidence-based 21-day digital program that will help you quit tobacco for good. Get started in your Sharecare account (or create on at aepwell.com), then select Achieve, Programs, and Craving to Quit.

Unwinding by Sharecare

The Unwinding app is available through Sharecare as a tool to help you manage daily stress and anxiety. It offers simple yet effective tools to help you improve your overall well-being.

Start Unwinding today in your Sharecare app (create an account first at aepwell.com then download the Sharecare app) under Achieve, Programs, and Unwinding.

Healthy Rewards

Healthy Habits Pay Off

AEP employees and medically-covered spouses can each earn up to $300 in Healthy Rewards by completing healthy activities by December 31! You can earn up to $225 in preventive care activities and another $75 by completing a variety of well-being activities.

Preventive Care Activities

  • Annual well check: $125
  • Two dental exams: $50
  • Eye exam OR skin cancer screening: $50

Well-Being Activities

Unlock this group of activities by completing (or updating) your RealAge Test in your Sharecare account each year. You can earn up to $75 by mixing and matching:

  • Online challenges with Sharecare: $25 each
  • Completing 3 weeks of the Sharecare RealAge Program: $25
  • Complete Solera’s Diabetes Prevention Program or Weight Management Program: Up to $50 - Week 9 engagement: $25 - 5% weight loss: $25 - Get started by visiting gosolera.com/aep to take a 1-minute quiz.

Reward Payout

Employees and spouses/domestic partners covered by an AEP-sponsored Medical Plan, your earned Healthy Rewards will be deposited directly in your Medical Plan account (HRA or HSA) the following March. The amount earned and deposited is pre-tax, meaning you get more than if the reward was provided in cash and taxed.

Employees who are not covered by an AEP-sponsored Medical Plan will be paid as part of a pay period and will have the usual taxes deducted.

How to Earn Rewards

Earn $125 for Your Annual Well Check

Getting an annual health exam can help you catch health issues earlier and prevent them from becoming bigger problems. Now, you can go for your annual preventive care visit at no cost to you while earning $125!

If you're enrolled in a Medical Plan through AEP, Anthem will report your visit. (Of course, the details of your visit and your results are strictly between you and your doctor.) You don't need to complete any additional forms or send anything in.

If you are an employee with coverage other than an AEP-sponsored Plan, you can still earn rewards. Please submit your Explanation of Benefits or receipt for the required exam to: Debbie Prusaczyk by email at deborah.prusaczyk@sharecare.com or by secure fax to 1-614-386-8608.

Earn $50 for Your Two Dental Exams

Dental visits aren't just about gleaming teeth. What goes on in your mouth can affect the rest of your body and what goes on in the rest of your body can have an effect on your mouth. Your dentist might see a sign or symptom of an illness or disease. In fact, regular dental exams can detect health issues such as diabetes, cancer and osteoporosis.

Even if you do not have teeth, your dentist might see something in your mouth that is a sign or symptom of an illness or disease. In fact, your dentist may be the first to detect bone loss from year to year on your x-rays, the advancement of gum disease or dentures becoming loose.

You earn this reward by having two regular dental checkups during the year. Ideally, those exams would be about six months apart, but the AEP Dental Plan's two-visits-per-calendar-year limit doesn't specify timing between visits. And, there's no cost to you for these preventive exams as part of the Plan. If you're enrolled in a Dental Plan through AEP, Aetna will report your visits.

Earn $50 for Your Eye Exam or Skin Cancer Screening

Eye Exams

An annual eye exam is a simple step to safeguard your vision and your eyes—an important part of your overall health. You might think your vision is fine or that your eyes are healthy, but the only way to tell for sure is with a visit to an eye care professional. Many people don't realize how much better they could see with glasses or contacts. And many common eye diseases, such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and age-related macular degeneration, often have no warning signs. Plus, eye exams often provide early warning for other health issues, such high blood pressure and diabetes.

If you're enrolled in the Vision coverage offered by AEP, there's no cost to you for an annual preventive eye exam. EyeMed will report your visit to qualify for this reward.

Skin Cancer Screenings

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. In fact, more skin cancers are diagnosed in the US each year than all other cancers combined. Early detection is critical. If you have skin cancer, finding it early is the best way to make sure it can be treated with success.

Having a visual skin examination by a clinician to screen for skin cancer is one of the best ways to reduce your risk with early detection and intervention.

Skin cancer screenings are not considered preventive under group Medical Plans. The cost is not covered at 100% by the AEP Medical Plan.

If you are an employee with Medical coverage other than an AEP-sponsored Plan, but have a skin cancer screening, you can still earn rewards. Solera Health Weight Management

AEP covers the cost of this confidential program for AEP Medical Plan participants and covered family members age 18 and older.

Some qualifying risk factors include Type 2 diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Losing 5 to 7 percent of your body weight actually lowers your risk of many chronic diseases and help to keep them in-check. In fact, that’s the goal of this nationally recognized lifestyle change program.

You’ll take a one-minute quiz asking about your risk factors to help you understand if this program can help you. Then, Solera Health will help you decide whether an in-person support group or an online option is the best fit for you.

Most programs include access to a personal health coach, a small group for support, and tools like a scale with wireless internet connectivity. At week 4 of the program all participants will receive a FitBit activity tracker.

Diabetes Prevention Program

AEP offers a benefit at no cost to help Medical Plan participants and their families live healthier lives—a diabetes prevention program that offers in-person group meetings and online options for individuals at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

The program helps you make lasting changes by eating healthier, increasing physical activity, and managing the challenges that come with lifestyle change. The result: You'll feel better and reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

And, you'll receive a free FitBit activity tracker!

How to Get Started with Solera Health

Go to gosolera.com/aep and take a 1-minute quiz. Any personal information you provide as part of the quiz will be treated confidentially and will not be shared with AEP. You can also call Solera Health to take your quiz if you would prefer.

At the end of the quiz, you will be told whether or not you qualify. With just a few more questions, Solera Health will help you decide whether an in-person support group or an online option is the best fit for you. Then you will be enrolled in a program and ready to get started!
