Backup Childcare Program
We also offer Backup Childcare for families that need "emergency" childcare when regular childcare provider is not available during your working hours. The program provides up to 15 days of “emergency” childcare per child per year (up to three children).
There are multiple options for backup childcare:
- Intel-paid backup childcare is available at most KinderCare Education and Learning Care Group centers nationwide on a space-available basis for emergency backup care.
- Backup childcare reimbursement program allows you the flexibility to use a childcare provider of your choosing for when your regular childcare falls through. Intel will reimburse up to $100 per day per child up to 15 days per calendar year (up to three children) for eligible backup childcare. File for reimbursement on the Care.com platform.
- Oregon’s near site backup childcare center: Intel’s Little Innovators by Patch Caregiving. Intel has partnered with Patch Caregiving to provide 24/7 backup childcare exclusively for Intel employees in Oregon. If your regular childcare falls through during working hours, Little Innovators is here for you.

Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP)
The Dependent Care Assistance Program allows you to set aside pre-tax funds to pay for dependent care — up to $5,000 a year if you file taxes jointly, or $2,500 per parent per a year if you file separate.
DCAPs are specifically designed for paying the people who look after your children or other dependents while you work. Some of the expenses you can pay with DCAP funds — after you have received the services, not before — include the following:
- Day camp fees - Day camps and summer or holiday camps are eligible; fees for overnight camps are not.
- A before-school or after-school care provider.
- An au pair or nanny - You can pay caretakers who tend to your young children or dependent adult in your home — including babysitters.
- A nursery school or preschool - You can’t pay tuition for any school or educational program that is kindergarten-level or above with DCAP funds, though. Preschool fees, even if called tuition, are allowed.
