Disability
Intel provides support for when you find yourself unable to work. If you are unable to work due to pregnancy or non-work-related illness or injury, we have resources in place that can help you recover your health and financial wellbeing. That’s why we provide the following
• Short-Term Disability • Long-Term Disability
Short-Term Disability (STD)
Intel STD benefits are intended to approximate your regular pay for up to 52 weeks if you are unable to work due to pregnancy or a non-work-related illness or injury. Intel STD benefit payments are subject to applicable Federal, State and local taxes and withholdings.
If you are a full-time, part-time or Intel Contract Employee (ICE), you are automatically covered by STD on your date of hire.√ No contributions are required for Intel STD. If you work outside of California in a state or location with mandated disability or paid leave programs, you are required to pay the employee contribution as determined by the applicable state or location. State and local mandated leave and disability programs run concurrent with applicable Intel programs.
√ California (CA) employees, please view Chapter 14 of the Intel Pay Stock and Benefits Handbook by clicking here for information on CA specific disability options.
Long-Term Disability (LTD)
If you considered disabled and meet the terms of the Intel LTD Plan, benefits are 65% of your covered earnings up to a maximum benefit of $20,000 a month. The duration of Intel LTD Plan benefits are based on your age at disability. All full-time and part-time employees are automatically covered under the Intel LTD Plan. It is important to note that not all employees who qualify for STD benefits will qualify for Intel LTD benefits.
Intel automatically provides LTD coverage and no contribution is required. The cost of coverage is taxable to you and treated as imputed income and reported on Form W-2.
The disability plan options do not cover all disabilities. Eligibility for each plan is based on different terms and requirements. For complete information on the Intel disability plans, please review the Summary Plan Description in the Intel Pay Stock and Benefits Handbook, Chapter 14 by clicking here.
