Important notes on your new hire benefits enrollment

  • You have 30 days from your hire or rehire date to elect your benefits. You will receive an email notification based on your hire date or rehire date. This notification will contain instructions on accessing the My Health Benefits website to make your benefits elections.
  • As an intern, you are eligible for Health, Dental, and Vision insurance options. If you convert to a Full-time or Part-time position immediately following your internship, you will not be able to enroll in these options at that time due to federal regulations.
  • If you do not take action within 30 days, you will default to no coverage for Health, Dental, and Vision insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in default coverage for the following benefits effective from your date of hire:
  • Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
  • Basic Life Insurance coverage equal to twice your eligible annual earnings to a maximum of $2M.
  • Basic AD&D Insurance coverage equal to twice your eligible annual earnings to a maximum of $2M.
  • Business Travel Accident Insurance coverage equal to five times your eligible annual earnings to an individual maximum of $1 million or $50 million aggregate maximum.
  • Short-Term Disability (CA residents only)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Note - Even if you do not choose to participate in Intel's health options, you may still be able to use the Health For Life Center (if available at your site). See Medical Coverage for more information.

Duplicate Coverage

  • If you have a family member who is also an Intel employee, you may not be enrolled as both a dependent and as an Intel employee in any insurance coverage. Please coordinate with your Intel family member prior to enrolling and have them drop you from their coverage if you plan to enroll in a plan they are currently covering you under.
  • If you have other coverage outside of Intel, including coverage under a parent/guardian, please coordinate with your family prior to enrolling on whether you will keep your other coverage or drop coverage and enroll in Intel’s plans.

Intel Medical Option Eligibility Rules

Intel bases regional healthcare option eligibility on the combination of both your work location and home address. In this case, please use the address you will be residing in during the duration of your internship. You can update your home address at any time in Workday. Your work location is updated in Workday by your manager. For questions and additional assistance with health coverage eligibility changes, please contact the Intel Health Benefits Center at 877-GOMYBEN (466-9236). Please review the Medical Coverage page and select your state to learn more about the medical options available to you. Changes to your work location and home address may require you to enroll in a new healthcare option if you lose eligibility for your current option as a result of the change.
