When to Enroll
Have you recently joined OBE? You must log on to myOBEbenefits.com or download the MyChoice® Mobile App to enroll.
You have three opportunities to enroll in OBE benefits:
- New Hire Enrollment - For all newly hired employees.
- Annual Enrollment - For employees making annual elections for the upcoming plan year. An Annual Enrollment window is held each fall.
- Special Enrollment - Qualifying Event - For employees making mid-year changes to their benefit elections due to qualifying life events.
Eligibility & Who You Can Cover
Eligible Employees
As an Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope employee, you are eligible for benefits if you are:
- A full-time, non-union, active employee, regularly scheduled to work an average of 30 hours per week.
-OR-
- A union employee eligible to receive benefits pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement.
New Hires
Have you recently joined OBE?
You then have up to 30 days from your eligibility date to elect coverage. If you do not complete your enrollment during this time period, you will not be able to enroll in company-sponsored benefits until the next Annual Enrollment period, which is held annually in the fall. The only exception to this rule is if you experience a qualifying status change (see Qualifying Life Event section below for details).
Dependents Who Also Work For OBE
If your spouse or dependent work for OBE and meet the requirements for Eligible Employees above, they can either:
- Enroll as a participant
-OR-
- Be covered as an enrolled dependent (spouse or child)
Eligible Dependents
You can cover these types of dependents under your OBE benefits:
- Your legal spouse
- Children up to the end of the month following their 26th birthday
- Stepchildren up to the end of the month following their 26th birthday
- Adoption of a child or placement of a child with you for adoption, up to end of the month following their 26th birthday
- Any other children you support for whom you are the legal guardian, up to end of the month following their 26th birthday (must provide copy of the court order)
- Any other children you support as the result of a Qualified Medical Child Support Order or National Medical Support Notice up to the end of the month following their 26th birthday (will be required to provide documentation)
- Dependents totally and permanently disabled before age 19 and subject to verification
Domestic partners are excluded from coverage under the plan.
Dependent Verification
What is Dependent Verification?
Any time you add a new dependent to your coverage, you will be required to provide proof of your relationship. This step is known as dependent verification.
Important: You have 30 days after completing your Annual Enrollment, New Hire Enrollment or change in family status to provide the required documentation. Dependent coverage is not activated until acceptable documentation has been submitted and approved.
Ways to Submit Documentation
- Download the MyChoice benefits app from your device's app store. This is the easiest and fastest way to provide verification documents. You can easily snap a picture and upload your documents with the app.
- Scan and upload your documents on myOBEbenefits.com. Click on the item in your Important Reminders list and follow the steps to upload your documents. Pro Tip: If you are adding a new dependent, there will be an opportunity to upload your documents as you go through the enrollment so having your documents ready to upload as you enroll is encouraged.
