You can choose from one of the following plan administrators: Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM), UnitedHealthcare (UHC) or Kaiser Permanente (for Northern California residents).
- Sandia High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) Features lower monthly premiums and a higher deductible. This plan does not include a Sandia-funded HRA. If eligible, you may contribute to your own Health Savings Account (HSA). Medicare-eligible
If you’re Medicare-eligible, you can select one of the following:
1. Sandia-Sponsored Group Medicare Advantage Plans These plans combine Medicare Parts A and B with additional benefits, including prescription drug coverage. Options include:
- UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO with Premium and Basic Plan options (available nationwide)
- Kaiser Permanente Group Senior Advantage HMO (Northern California only)

2. Individual Medicare Plans with a Sandia-Funded Medicare Health Reimbursement Account (Medicare HRA) With this option, you choose your own Medicare plan through Via Benefits, and use your Sandia-funded Medicare HRA to get reimbursed for eligible premiums and out-of-pocket expenses. Via Benefits provides licensed advisors to help you find coverage that fits your needs.
