Evidence of Insurability

For Long-Term Disability and Supplemental Life Insurance coverage, if you enroll after you are first eligible as a new hire, you will be subject to Evidence of Insurability (EOI). EOI is proof that you and/or your dependents are in good health.

Life Events

You can change your coverage each year during Annual Enrollment. After Annual Enrollment, the only time you can change your coverage is if you experience a Qualified Life Event, such as:

  • Marriage
  • Divorce or legal separation
  • Commencement or termination of a domestic partnership
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Commencement or termination of your spouse or dependents employment (with benefits)

You can make benefit election changes resulting from a Qualified Life Event online by logging on to My TE Benefits Connection.

If you do not make changes within 31 days* of the qualifying event, you cannot change your health and welfare benefits until the next Annual Enrollment period.

*60 days for birth/adoption or Medicaid eligibility.
