Your TE Connectivity Benefits

Listed below are TE Connectivity’s health & welfare and retirement programs along with a summary indicating what effect your retirement will have on your participation.

Health & Welfare Plans

Your TE Connectivity medical, dental and vision coverages end on the last day of the month in which you retire. If you are eligible, you may temporarily continue your existing coverage through COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act).

If you currently have a Health Savings Account (HSA), your account will remain open and you may continue to make contributions to your HSA if you elect to continue coverage in the ChoicePlus plan through COBRA, are not enrolled in Medicare, and are under age 65. Upon enrolling in Medicare, you are no longer eligible to contribute to an HSA. Since Medicare Part A can provide retroactive coverage for up to six months before your application date, you should stop HSA contributions six months before Medicare coverage begins to avoid tax penalties. After retirement you can still use the funds in your account to pay for qualified health expenses. Questions about your HSA after retirement should be directed to the Bank of America Customer Care Center at 1-866-559-7959 or myhealth.bankofamerica.com.

If you are enrolled in the HealthFund plan, your HRA funds can be used through the last day of the month in which your employment terminates. If you elect to continue in the HealthFund plan through COBRA, you can continue to use your HRA to pay for medical expenses as long as there is a balance in your account. If you are covered under the HealthFund plan at the time TE makes their annual contribution to the health care accounts (January), you will be eligible for the annual contribution.

If you participate in a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), your eligibility ends on the last day of the month in which you retire. You can submit charges for any out-of-pocket costs incurred prior to the last day of the month in which you retire, but any charges incurred after that time cannot be reimbursed. All expenses must be submitted for reimbursement no later than March 31 following the end of the Plan Year in which your employment terminates.

If you participate in a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), your eligibility ends on your retirement date. All expenses must be submitted for reimbursement no later than March 31 following the end of the Plan Year in which your employment terminates.

Note: If you are eligible for Medicare (age 65 or older) and you choose to elect coverage through COBRA, your COBRA coverage will pay secondary to Medicare, regardless of whether you elect Medicare coverage.

Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), and Business Travel Accident Insurances

Your Company-provided Life Insurance as well as any Supplemental Life Insurance coverage you had in place will continue through the last day of the month in which you retire. You may be eligible to continue your Supplemental coverage through a Conversion or Portability provision. Prudential will notify you directly of your right to continue your life insurance shortly after your retirement date. If you wish to continue your life insurance, you must contact Prudential within 31 days of your coverage termination date. Your company-provided AD&D will also terminate on the last day of the month in which your employment is terminated and cannot be continued. For more information regarding Conversion and Portability rates and provisions, please contact Prudential at 1-800-778-3827. Business Travel Accident Insurance ends on your termination date.

Critical Illness Insurance

If currently enrolled, your Critical Illness Insurance will continue through the last day of the month in which you retire. Shortly after your termination date, MetLife will notify you directly about the opportunity to continue your Critical Illness Insurance coverage at the same group rates on a direct-bill basis. Questions can be directed to MetLife at 1-800-438-6388.

Legal Plan

If currently enrolled, your coverage through the Legal Plan will continue through the last day of the month in which you retire. If you wish to continue this plan on a direct-bill basis, you must contact MetLife within 30 days of your termination date at 1-800-438-6388.
