Prepare for Annual Enrolment

STEP 1: REVIEW WHAT'S AHEAD FOR 2027

Sun Life Will Be the NEW Carrier for Health and Dental Coverages

We’re excited to announce that we’re moving your Health and Dental coverages from GreenShield to Sun Life, effective January 1, 2027. This partnership reflects our dedication to providing you and your family with access to comprehensive coverage, enhanced digital tools, and dedicated support when you need it most. This move will also make Sun Life the carrier for most MDLZ health and welfare coverages; as well as the recordkeeper for MDLZ retirement benefits, including:

  • Health and Dental coverages (Basic and Enhanced)
  • Core Life Insurance coverage
  • Optional Life and Optional Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance coverages
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability coverages
  • The Retirement and Savings Program

With easier access to all of the above from Sun Life, this move further enables YOU a more integrated and streamlined experience.

Transitioning to Sun Life

The move to Sun Life for Health and Dental coverages, including all the tools that Sun Life will offer, will take effect on January 1, 2027. Until then, keep the following in mind.

Member and Policy Numbers

  • Your Sun Life policy number for Health and Dental coverages will be 151609. Starting January 1, 2027, please provide your pharmacy, dentist, and other health care providers (i.e., chiropractor, massage therapist, optometrist) with this number so that you’re ready to go with our new carrier.
  • Your new Member ID number with Sun Life will be your Employee ID Number. You don't need to take action—this number will automatically transfer to Sun Life on January 1, and it will appear in the Sun Life materials you'll receive in December (see below).

Coverage and Claims Submission

  • If you decide not to make any changes to your current Health and/or Dental coverage elections during 2027 Annual Enrolment, your year-end 2026 coverage elections will automatically carry over to Sun Life on January 1—at the applicable 2027 cost.
  • For any Health and/or Dental claims incurred up to and including December 31, 2026, be sure to submit them to GreenShield—like you do today—by December 31, 2026. If you have 2026 expenses that you’re not able to submit to GreenShield by this date, you can submit them to Sun Life on or after January 1, 2027 (any applicable 2026 benefit maximums or limits will apply to these expenses).
  • You’ll want to begin submitting your Health and/or Dental claims incurred on or after January 1, 2027, to Sun Life (you’ll receive more information on how to submit claims from Sun Life closer to January 1).

Other Important Information

  • Beginning January 1, Sun Life will also be the NEW administrator of the Health Care Spending Accounts (HCSAs). In addition, we'll begin to refer to your account as a Health Spending Account (HSA). To-date, the HSA had an expense carry forward feature—meaning you were able to use next year’s HSA funds (if available) to cover the prior year’s out-of-pocket eligible expenses. With the move to Sun Life, however, an administrative change will apply for this transition year only. That said, if you still have an unused 2026 HSA balance, be sure to submit 2026 claims to GreenShield by December 31, 2026. If you don’t, you’ll forfeit any unused HSA balance. Beginning January 1, you’ll only be able to use your 2027 HSA funds (if available) toward eligible out-of-pocket expenses incurred in 2027.
  • If you’re currently set up to receive Health and/or Dental claim reimbursements via direct deposits into your bank account, your current direct deposit information won’t transfer to Sun Life (you’ll receive more information on how to set up direct deposit directly from Sun Life closer to January 1).
  • Beginning January 1, 2027, you’ll begin to have access to the Sun Life Customer Care Centre. Representatives will be available to answer your Health and Dental coverage-specific questions at that time.

More to Come!

You can expect to receive your NEW ID/Drug Card in mid-December and your Welcome Letter toward the end of December. Sun Life will mail each separately to your home address on file. Keep an eye out for these important Sun Life materials!

We’re working closely with both GreenShield and Sun Life to make this move as seamless as possible. If you have any questions as we’re transitioning prior to January 1, please contact the Mondelēz Canada Benefits Centre at 1-800-641-1500 (Option 1 – Benefits; Option 1 – Health & Welfare Benefits). Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).

NEW Virtual Health Care

With our move to Sun Life, we’re also excited to add Virtual Health Care (VHC) as part of your Health coverage! With VHC, you’ll have 24/7 access to physical and mental health care practitioners (as permitted in each province) via an integrated platform. VHC will enable you to quickly access medical care virtually and proactively address health concerns when and where it’s convenient for you, including:

  • Scheduling appointments, typically within 24 hours.
  • Renewing prescriptions or obtaining refills when clinically indicated (certain exceptions apply).
  • Accessing a wide range of health and wellness resources, including a multidisciplinary medical team to help treat non-urgent health concerns, through a single app.
  • Completing online medical assessments.
  • Getting specialist referrals.

If you’re enrolled for either Family Basic Health or Enhanced Health coverage for 2027, you and your covered dependents will have access to Sun Life’s VHC services beginning January 1, 2027. If you’re enrolled in Single coverage and have dependents, your dependents won’t have access to VHC. And, if you waive Health coverage for 2027, you also won’t be able to access VHC with Sun Life. Look for more information on Benefits Made Right once VHC is available!

Other Coverages and Carrier Information

  • The Core and Optional coverage options available and their provisions will stay the same for 2027—except for the VHC enhancement being made to Health coverage through Sun Life.
  • Sun Life will continue to be the carrier for your Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), and Disability coverages. Sutton Special Risk will continue to be the carrier for your Critical Illness Insurance. For details on how to reach each carrier for these coverages, visit the CONTACT INFO & APPS section.
  • Even with the move to Sun Life, your Health and Dental coverages (Basic and Enhanced) generally will not change. This means there won’t be any changes to covered services or how the Flexible Benefits Program pays benefits. See a snapshot of the Health and a snapshot of the Dental coverage options for details (your Sun Life Benefits Booklet will be available in the MyBenefits Online's Resource Library after January 1). Important Note: Carriers apply their own administrative guidelines when defining Reasonable and Customary (R&C) limits and determining eligible expenses. As a result, you may see slight differences in how Sun Life processes Health and Dental claims when compared to GreenShield.

An Opportunity for Added Flex Credits

As a full-time employee, you can choose from two Company-provided coverage options—50% Core LTD and 60% Core LTD. Remember:

  • Both options are available at no cost to you.
  • If you choose 50% Core LTD coverage, you’ll get $400 in extra Flex Credits (for a total of $800) to help pay for your other Optional coverages—including Health and Dental, which may help offset the costs for these coverages in 2027 (see below).
  • If you don’t make an active election, your current LTD coverage will automatically roll over to 2027—so, you’ll receive the added $400 in Flex Credits if you’re currently enrolled for 50% Core LTD.*
LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW FLEX CREDITS WORK

* If you’re a full-time employee and you currently have LTD coverage at a level higher than 60% through an Enhanced LTD option, you can continue that coverage until you elect otherwise. If you do choose to retain the higher coverage level, you’ll continue to pay the additional premium and will have $400 in Flex Credits to use toward the rest of your Optional coverages.

Cost

Due to increased health care costs across the country, Health and Dental coverage costs will increase for 2027. In an ongoing effort to provide financial support, MDLZ will continue to cover the majority of health care costs, including this increase.

Your actual 2027 costs will depend on the coverage options you elect, any additional Optional Life or Optional AD&D coverage you purchase, and your available Flex Credits.

As a reminder, you use your Flex Credits to help pay for Optional coverages. And, you'll receive an additional $400 in Flex Credits if you choose 50% Core LTD coverage instead of 60%. So, consider your options during Annual Enrolment.

Beginning November 4, be sure to look at your 2027 costs for all of your coverage options on MyBenefits Online.

About Dependent Children

If you have a child who’s younger than age 25 (or age 26 if you’re in Quebec) and is still a full-time student at an accredited institution, you’ll need to validate their student status either on MyBenefits Online or by contacting the Mondelēz Canada Benefits Centre by November 20, 2026.

STEP 3: make your 2027 coverage elections

Be sure to make your elections by November 20. If you don’t, your year-end 2026 coverage elections will carry over to 2027, at the applicable 2027 cost.

Key Considerations

  • Review your current 2026 coverages on MyBenefits Online and think about your (and your family’s) coverage needs for the year ahead.
  • Consider other coverages that will be available to you for 2027 through your province and/or your spouse (if applicable).
  • Ask yourself who will you need to cover and what will their general health care needs be for 2027; do you anticipate any health changes (e.g., will a family member need braces), or do you expect next year’s expenses to be similar; and have you had any changes to your family (e.g., a new dependent or a change in marital status).

Select Your 2027 Coverages

  • From the MyBenefits Online home page select Restart or Modify to launch the enrolment tool.
  • Decide which options will best support your coverage needs for 2027—you may find the Help Me Decide tool on MyBenefits Online helpful as you’re making your elections.
  • Review your 2027 Flex Credit allocations. MyBenefits Online details your 2027 coverage options, Flex Credits, costs, HSA dollars (if applicable), and/or your paycheque deductions. Remember, any unused Flex Credits that remain after you elect your 2027 coverages will get deposited to your HSA with Sun Life. And, if the cost of the coverages you elect is more than your total Flex Credits, you’ll make up the difference with a payroll deduction.

Review and Complete

  • Review your 2027 coverage elections and personal information to ensure they’re correct before you submit.
  • Review your Cost Summary, which confirms your coverage elections, annual cost, and per-pay-period costs (if any) for 2027.

Note: You can edit your elections before the November 20 deadline by "Restarting" the Annual Enrolment tool. If you restart after you complete your elections, however, please submit/complete your coverage elections again. Otherwise, any change you've made won't be processed.

Remember...

The elections you make during 2027 Annual Enrolment take effect on January 1, 2027, and continue through December 31, 2027. You can, however, make changes to certain Optional coverages if you experience a qualified life event. If, after November 20 you notice an error, contact the Mondelēz Canada Benefits Centre at 1-800-641-1500 (Option 1 – Benefits; Option 1 – Health & Welfare Benefits) as soon as possible so it can be corrected and take effect for January 1.
