HOW THE RETIREMENT AND SAVINGS PROGRAM WORKS →
Here’s A snapshot of how each program works
As long as you meet the eligibility requirements—as described in each program’s official documents—you can participate in the:
- Mondelēz Canada Flexible Benefits Program (Flexible Benefits Program); and
- Mondelez Canada Inc. Retirement and Savings Program (Retirement and Savings Program).
HOW THE FLEXIBLE BENEFITS PROGRAM WORKS
You automatically receive Company-paid Core coverages. You can then supplement your Core coverages by electing Optional coverages for yourself and your eligible dependents. Here's what your Core and Optional coverages look like under the Flexible Benefits Program.
If you have LTD coverage in effect on December 31, 2025, that’s more than 60% of your annual base salary, you can continue coverage until you elect otherwise.
As a full-time employee, you receive Company-provided Flex Credits to help you pay for the Optional coverages you elect.
A note about your HCSA - use it or lose it
Be sure to use your entire HCSA balance for the year. You forfeit any Flex Credits that remain in your HCSA on December 31. You can view your HCSA balance on MyBenefits Online, as well as on the GreenShield+ Plan Member app.
If your eligible expenses exceed your HCSA balance in any given year, you can carry these expenses over and use your next year’s HCSA balance to help pay for the eligible expense.
Note: In Quebec, any amount that’s reimbursed from your HCSA is considered taxable income.
HOW THE RETIREMENT AND SAVINGS PROGRAM WORKS
Depending on your eligibility and what you may be contributing to, your Retirement and Savings Program may include any of the following:
- Defined Contribution Pension Plan (DCPP)
- Non-Registered Savings Plan (NREG)
- Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (GRRSP)
- Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA)
The Retirement and Savings Program is a long-term savings vehicle. By contributing regularly, you play an active role in supporting your financial well-being as you prepare financially for your future. All contributions, including those the Company makes on your behalf, to the DCPP, NREG, GRRSP, and/or TFSA are yours immediately after they’re deposited into your account. And, the Company basic contribution allows you to start saving for the future right away.
You can access the Retirement and Savings Program’s tools, make investment fund changes, and access your account balance online and by phone:
- Online: Via the Sun Life website or the my Sun Life mobile app (download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play).
- By Phone: Call 1-866-896-6976 (representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time).
See Retirement and Savings Program for more details.
A note about taxes
Flex Credits as well as Company-paid benefits are subject to income and sales taxes. Income and sales taxes vary depending on the province in which you live.
- All Provinces: Company-paid Core Life Insurance price tags, Optional AD&D insurance, and BTA Insurance are subject to federal and provincial income taxes.
- Quebec: The cost of Company-paid health and dental benefits is subject to income tax and sales tax at the provincial level. HCSA dollars spent are also considered taxable income at the provincial level.
- Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba: Core Life Insurance, Optional Life Insurance, and Optional AD&D Insurance price tags are subject to sales tax. Where the sales tax is paid for by the Company, this amount is included as taxable income.
The Flexible Benefits Program is designed with these tax items in mind.
