When considering your options, do so carefully and make elections that will best support you
Here are some tips for the Flexible Benefits Program and the Retirement and Savings Program to help you through the decision-making process.
Health
MEDICAL
Keep in mind:
- You have options: You have two coverage options available to you, both through GreenShield. Both include prescription drug coverage.
- Special coverage needs: Think about the specific care you or your family members may need (for example, consider the various maximums that apply for Paramedical and Vision services; or the different drug limits that apply under the two coverage options available—Basic Health and Enhanced Health). To understand how GreenShield will cover your care, use their cost look-up tool on MyBenefits Online (this tool is available at your initial enrolment and during each Annual Enrolment).
DENTAL
Keep in mind:
- You have options: You have two coverage options available to you, both through GreenShield. Consider which will best meet your needs.
- This coverage can help protect against sometimes costly dental care services: Both options cover basic, comprehensive basic, and major dental care services. One of the options covers orthodontia services.
MONEY
Key points to keep in mind:
- Consider whether additional life and accident protection makes sense for you: Understand the Company-provided Core coverages that you automatically receive. Then, evaluate whether you need to purchase any additional Optional coverages that are available. If you’re a new hire, you have a one-time opportunity to elect certain Optional Life Insurance coverage amounts without having to provide evidence of good health. When you first enrol (and during Annual Enrolment), be sure you review your beneficiaries and update them if needed for each applicable Core and Optional coverage.
- Don’t wait to start thinking about your financial well-being and future financial security: The Retirement and Savings Program can help you meet your goals. If you’re a new hire, automatic enrollment applies at the time you’re first eligible. You can make voluntary contributions and increase or decrease your voluntary contribution rate at any time. You’re also able to change your investment elections at any time.
MORE
- Critical Illness Insurance: Provides additional financial assistance when you or a covered family member are diagnosed with a covered illness.
Keep in mind:
- Other programs: Don’t forget the variety of other Programs and Policies that are in place to help support The Right You. These include Corporate Discount Programs (such as GoodLife Fitness, Perkopolis, and The Personal); a Vacation Policy, an Adoption Assistance Policy, and an Education Assistance Policy; and a Scholarship Program.
- The Contact Info & Apps page: Includes how to access the websites for each of the carriers/benefit vendors—where you can find additional details.
- More information: For details about the Vacation, Adoption Assistance, and Education Assistance Policies as well as the Scholarship Program, see the Employee Center (these can vary across the Company).
THE RIGHT YOU
Key points to keep in mind:
- Consider using the well-being tools and resources: The Right You’s initiatives are designed to support all three pillars of well-being—Mind, Body, and Connection.
- Lean on the support available through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP): There are a variety of support resources the EAP provides to help you balance family, work, and personal needs.
