*Affordable Care Act
Since January 1, 2015, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has required companies with more than 50 employees to offer medical coverage to all employees who work an average of 30 hours per week for a period of 12 months, regardless of employment status. This is called the “Employer Mandate,” and it affects AEG.
Human Resources monitors employee hours to ensure AEG offers benefits to employees who qualify under the mandate. Human Resources notifies employees of their eligibility and the 30-day enrollment period. Coverage will then be in effect for 12 months regardless of any reduction in hours or change in status.
